“Coffee Talk” with Nicole & GG- What do your earlobes say about you? Criminal or class clown?

Just a typical Wednesday morning at the Naples Household. Breakfast, lunches and Coffee Talk. Well, Gianna did not let us down. I love the way she is carefree, honest and REAL. Don’t get wrong, fast forward a few hours and I’ll want to “smash” her because of her mouth, her room or lack of studying. Smash was a word used by many in our area growing up! “I’ll smash ya”!

Today we discussed earlobes and how it can determine whether you will be a criminal or a class clown. Guess what GG is? I bet you can’t guess my results.

Foodies On Friday- Farro Salad- YUM-O!

Farro is a grain grown in Italy and has a nutty flavor. Farro can be served hot or cold. This is a great tasty salad you can add to any dinner. Great as a summer side dish for a BBQ too!

1 cup Cooked Farro- Cooled
1 palmful of red onion chopped
1/2 cup craisins
1/2 cup Feta
1/3 cup chopped nuts (I prefer Pine Nuts or Walnuts)
1 cup chopped greens (any greens you have will work)
Mix All Ingredients and Mix Dressing

Dressing
1/3 cup Good Olive Oil
Juice from one whole lemon
2 tsp Grade B Maple Syrup
2 Cloves pressed Garlic
Dash of pepper, salt, oregano
Whisk and add to Farro mix

Let sit for a few hours.

My Top 10 Grocery Items and Why

MY TOP 10 GROCERY ITEMS AND WHY

1.Bananas

I throw them in my shake every morning. It’s a must.

Here is my recipe:

1 scoop of chocolate Shakeology

10-12 ounces of water

Half handful of frozen strawberries

1/4 banana

2.  Pre-cooked Lentils

This is my “go to” that I can  throw on my salad for extra protein or the lentil-quinoa salad that is my vice.  (I use the 21 day fix containers, so excuse the measurements)

1 yellow of Lentils

1 yellow of quinoa

Palmful of red onion

1/2 green of tomatoes and cukes

1 tsp of sesame seed oil

1/2 squeezed lemon

Dried chickpeas for crunch

Sprinkle Feta

3. Eggs

I always keep them in the house for extra protein. Since I removed red meat and chicken I have trouble fitting in the needed amount of protein in my diet. I usually hard boil some for the week. I will eat them plain or I will toss them in a little of Veganaise with red onion and celery! I also use them for egg whites in the am when I am in the mood.

4.  Amy’s Margarita Pizza

This is a WIN! I usually keep these in my freezer for those busy and hectic days when I can’t seem to get dinner moving. I make a side salad, cook 2 of these and BAM!  A pretty decent dinner without the mom guilt.

5. Black Beans

I usually have at least 2-3 cans hanging around in the pantry.  I add them to a salad for some extra fiber or I make Black Bean Soup which is always a hit….I think because I add chips and sour cream with it. Wink Wink.

6.  Mozzarella

I just can’t live without a caprese salad. A nice beefsteak tomato with a slice of “moo-tza-rell”. I have no words, just Mmmmmm.

7. SkinnyPop (the BIG BAG)

I know that 3 cups is one yellow container when talking about the 21 day fix program. Unfortunately, there have been times when I haven eaten the entire bag in one sitting. Most times, this bag lasts me about 5-6 days. But when I am on a roll…..watch out!

8.  Avocados

Guacamole, sliced on a salad, mixed with my caprese salad, added to the Black Bean soup or just plain. This fruit makes me happy!

9. Strawberries and Pineapple

A longtime friend once served strawberries for dinner and I thought, “that’s genius”. We always just assume that fruit is a breakfast, lunch or snack item. But once I started putting fruit on the table for dinner, I realized that my monsters eat fruit AND veggies. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Strawberries and pineapple are usually a hit.

10.  Amy’s California Burger

I love her line of food. I really haven’t found anything she makes that I despise. This burger here is a fav. I add homemade quac, a side salad and I am  in Lunch Heaven!

Frenetic Energy- Tips to Calm the Craziness

Do you suffer from Frenetic Energy? Do you even know what it is?  Here is a definition from Wiktionary:

Fast, harried- having extreme enthusiasm or energy.  After a week at a frenetic pace, she was ready fro the weekend.  Mentally deranged, insane.  Characterized by manifestation of delirium or madness.

Most people have frenetic energy. How can you not. living in this crazy world. We are always on the go, keeping up with the fast pace and then feeling like a madman or madwoman.

Energy is contagious. When in a frenetic state, you are then giving off this energy to your kids, spouse, co-workers….even the dog!

Here are 3 tips to help you reign in the frenetic state.

  1.  Headspace App- meditation app….Bonus:  the guy has a nice British accent which is very calming.
  2. Yoga- This can be done at home through an On Demand Video or in a studio.
  3. A signal/word- Come up with a signal or word that someone who is around you quite a bit can say to you when they know you are in that state.  You will then become self-aware and can control the energy whirlwind you are in!

NOTE: My daughter and I did 1 minute of Headspace and BAM, helped us both……we are of the same mold!

Be Vulnerable when you pass the Turkey

“We all try to dress rehearse tragedy to beat vulnerability”

I was listening to Brene Browns interview on Oprah’s Supersoul Conversation.  The conversation about vulnerability struck me bigtime!  It’s very common and it’s among us that many fear being vulnerable.

When I start to think about the people in MY close circle, I notice a pattern.  We are all vulnerable. We allow ourselves to be seen. We allow to let our guards down. And where others may think this is a sign of weakness, I say bullshit, this is strength.

Brene talked about how when good things are happening in our life, we stop and start to think, “oh no, things are going really well, something bad is coming my way.” (aka dress rehearse tragedy)

Why do we do this to ourselves? It’s absurd. We should stop and instead be vulnerable. Show gratitude. Be grateful for what is happening in your life.  Because when you are grateful, you will start to look for things to be grateful for. If you think about the possibility of being harmed then without realizing it, you will be looking for things in the universe to harm you.

Check out this definition of VULNERABLE: state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed.

Crazy, right? Going into this holiday season, understand this one thing; most of the people you will be sharing your turkey with may be very fearful of being vulnerable.

What you can do, is be YOU. Be vulnerable, its shows strength and confidence.

How a fight with my son turned into a life lesson everyone needs!

Hey You!  If you have a white picket fence and don’t mess up with your kids, just click delete! Buh Bye!  But I have to say this one ended up a win. I have been coaching women now for a while but I just started implementing these tips into my families life. Mom Fail! It’s ok, I am a little slow to the show!

Just 2 days ago I was inspired to create a Facebook group that helps people be accountable to get SH*T done. It will be devoted solely to chipping away at your “to do” lists so you can attack your bigger goals!

Crawl, walk, run. That’s how we started. Most of us, anyway. Some may be overachievers early on. Anyway, you can’t get to the big goals until you master and check off the small ones.

I am not a big writer, I feel I am a better story teller. Take a few minutes out of your day and watch because it can be life changing, It was for me.

2 Life Changing Tips I made that helped me create more income!
